Abstract: |
The Beidou System (BDS) is a global satellite navigation system independently developed by China, featuring global coverage, short message communication, and real-time positioning. In recent years, the BDS has been applied in the safety monitoring of hydraulic engineering projects, demonstrating positive impacts, though it has also faced concerns regarding unmet precision requirements and unreliable calculation results. This paper, based on the needs of hydraulic engineering safety monitoring and the strengths of the BDS, synthesizes the technical characteristics of the BDS, evaluates its applicability, advantages, and limitations in hydraulic engineering safety monitoring, and proposes that the BDS has considerable potential in areas such as emergency communication and surface deformation trend monitoring. By enhancing solving capabilities and integrating multi-sensor computations, the BeiDou system"s potential can be fully utilized in various hydraulic engineering safety monitoring scenarios, such as one map of water conservancy, reservoir capacity monitoring, and surface deformation monitoring. BeiDou system should be further studied and used in hydraulic engineering and management. |
